Aberdaron: The Pilgrims' Village at the End of Llŷn

Aberdaron is the last village on the Llŷn Peninsula, where medieval pilgrims gathered for the dangerous crossing to Bardsey. They ate at Y Gegin Fawr, the pilgrims' kitchen, and the 12th-century church of St Hywyn stands on the shore, known as the Cathedral of Llŷn; the poet R. S. Thomas was its vicar from 1967 to 1978. West of the village, at the tip of the peninsula, is Mynydd Mawr, and to the east are the four miles of Porth Neigwl, Hell's Mouth.
