Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 September 2026

Avandra ("Avandra", "we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Avandra, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have in relation to your personal data.

1. Who We Are

Avandra is a travel planning and management service designed to help users plan, organise and record their trips, vehicles, destinations and related travel information.

The data controller responsible for your personal information is:

Kenneth Killeen, trading as Avandra

8 Main Street, Howth, Dublin 13

Email: privacy@avandra.ie

2. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use Avandra.

Account information

When you create an account, we may collect information including:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • your profile image;
  • your account identifier; and
  • information required to authenticate and manage your account.

Google Sign-In

Avandra allows you to sign in using your Google Account.

When you choose to sign in with Google, Google provides Avandra with basic account information that you have authorised us to receive. This may include your name, email address, Google account identifier, and profile image. We use this information to authenticate you, create or identify your Avandra account, and enable you to access the service.

Avandra does not receive or store your Google password.

Ordinary sign-in does not request or receive access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Contacts or any other Google service — only the basic profile information above.

We do not use information obtained through Google Sign-In for advertising purposes and do not sell Google user data.

Google Calendar (optional)

Avandra includes an optional feature that displays your Google Calendar events alongside your trips. This is entirely separate from signing in, and is off by default.

If you choose to turn it on — using the "Connect Google Calendar" option on Avandra's Calendar page — you will be asked to separately and explicitly grant read-only access to your calendar list and events. This permission is never requested as part of ordinary sign-in, and is only ever requested when you take this specific action.

Where granted, we use this access solely to display your existing Google Calendar events inside Avandra's calendar view. We do not edit or create anything in your Google Calendar, do not share this data with any third party, and do not use it for advertising.

You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time by revoking Avandra's access from your Google Account permissions (myaccount.google.com/permissions), or by signing out of Avandra.

Information you add to Avandra

When using Avandra, you may choose to provide information such as:

  • trips and travel plans;
  • destinations and locations;
  • campsite information;
  • vehicle information;
  • inventories and equipment;
  • maintenance records;
  • expenses and fuel records;
  • checklists;
  • favourites;
  • reviews, notes and ratings;
  • travel companions or family members you add to a trip (for example, names and ages or roles);
  • photographs or other uploaded content; and
  • other information you choose to save within the service.

Some information you choose to share — such as community-submitted locations, reviews, and photos — is visible to other Avandra users within the app.

Location information

Some Avandra features may use your location, for example to show nearby places, campsites, activities or other relevant information.

Where required, we will ask for permission before accessing precise location information through your device or browser.

You can disable location access through your browser or device settings.

Technical and usage information

When you use Avandra, we may automatically receive certain technical information, including:

  • IP address;
  • browser and device type;
  • operating system;
  • pages or features used;
  • dates and times of access;
  • error and diagnostic information;
  • general usage information; and
  • your browser's local storage and session storage, used to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and track progress through in-app guides such as onboarding tours.

We may use this information to operate, secure, analyse and improve Avandra.

Communications and support

If you contact us for support, join a waiting list, submit feedback or otherwise communicate with us, we may retain your contact details and the contents of those communications.

3. How We Use Your Information

We may use personal information to:

  • create and manage your Avandra account;
  • authenticate you when you sign in;
  • provide the features and services you request;
  • save and synchronise your information;
  • personalise your experience;
  • provide location-based functionality where enabled;
  • respond to support requests;
  • maintain the security and reliability of the service;
  • diagnose errors and technical problems;
  • understand how Avandra is being used;
  • improve and develop Avandra;
  • prevent fraud, misuse or unauthorised access; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

We will not use your personal information for purposes that are incompatible with those described in this Privacy Policy without providing appropriate notice.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Where the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") applies, we process personal data under one or more of the following legal bases.

Performance of a contract: where processing is necessary to provide Avandra and the services you request.

Legitimate interests: where processing is reasonably necessary for operating, securing, maintaining or improving Avandra, provided those interests do not override your rights.

Consent: where we ask you to consent to particular processing, such as connecting Google Calendar or certain uses of location information.

Legal obligation: where processing is necessary for us to comply with applicable law.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information with organisations that provide services necessary to operate Avandra, such as:

  • website and application hosting providers;
  • database and cloud infrastructure providers;
  • authentication providers, including Google;
  • mapping or location service providers;
  • analytics and diagnostic providers;
  • email and communications providers; and
  • payment processors, if paid services are introduced.

These providers may process personal information only as necessary to provide their services to us and subject to appropriate contractual and data protection requirements.

We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our rights, protect users or the public, investigate fraud or security issues, or respond to a lawful request from a competent authority.

If Avandra or the business operating it is acquired, reorganised or transferred, personal information may form part of that transaction, subject to applicable data protection law.

6. Google User Data

Information received from Google through Google Sign-In is used only to authenticate you, create or identify your Avandra account, and enable you to access the service.

Where you have separately and explicitly connected Google Calendar (see Section 2), that additional information is used only to display your calendar events inside Avandra, as described above.

We do not sell Google user data.

We do not use Google user data for advertising.

We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except where necessary to provide or secure Avandra, where you have specifically requested or authorised the transfer, or where required by law.

Our use of information received from Google APIs is subject to Google's applicable API Services User Data requirements, including the Limited Use requirements where applicable.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.

Account information and information stored within your Avandra account may normally be retained for as long as your account remains active.

If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise personal information associated with the account within a reasonable period, except where information must be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting or other legitimate purposes.

Some information may remain temporarily within encrypted backups until those backups are routinely overwritten or deleted.

8. International Data Transfers

Some of the service providers used to operate Avandra may process information outside Ireland or the European Economic Area.

Where personal data is transferred internationally, we will use appropriate safeguards as required by applicable data protection law. These may include European Commission adequacy decisions or approved Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or destruction.

However, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for keeping access to your own account and devices secure.

10. Your Data Protection Rights

If GDPR applies to you, you may have the right to:

  • obtain confirmation that we process your personal information;
  • request a copy of personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of your personal information;
  • request restriction of certain processing;
  • object to certain processing;
  • receive certain information in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
  • lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

These rights are subject to certain limitations under applicable law.

If you are in Ireland, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission.

To exercise your rights, contact us at: privacy@avandra.ie

11. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your Avandra account and associated personal information by contacting: privacy@avandra.ie

Where an account deletion function is available within Avandra, you may also use that feature directly.

Revoking Avandra's access through your Google Account settings does not necessarily delete your Avandra account or information already stored within Avandra. If you want your Avandra account deleted, you should contact us using the email address above.

12. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Avandra uses cookies, and your browser's local storage and session storage, that are necessary for authentication, security and operation of the service — for example, keeping you signed in, remembering your preferences, and tracking your progress through in-app guides such as onboarding tours.

Where we use optional analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies that require consent under applicable law, we will request consent before using them.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, where provided, through Avandra's cookie preferences.

13. Third-Party Services

Avandra may contain links to, integrate with, or display information from third-party services.

Those organisations operate independently from Avandra and may process information under their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Avandra, our service providers, our data-processing practices or applicable law.

When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
