The Trotternish landslip is the longest in Great Britain, and its pinnacles are among the best-known sights on Skye: the Old Man of Storr below the Storr's eastern cliffs, and further north the Quiraing, where the Needle rises 37m and the Prison stands like a ruined keep above a raised plateau called the Table. On the coast at Staffin, a wave-cut platform at An Corran carries at least 18 dinosaur footprints up to 50cm long, left by a large theropod in the Middle Jurassic about 170 million years ago.

The An Corran footprints are on the shore and can only be seen at low tide, when the platform is clear of sand; beware natural cracks that look like prints.
