Pompadour: The Marquise's Château and the Anglo-Arab Stud
200 + 100 XP
Louis XV pre-empted the château of Pompadour on 15 June 1745 and gave it nine days later to his favourite, who took the title marquise de Pompadour. She set up a private stud here in 1751; when she gave the château back in 1760 the king turned it into a royal stud the following year, and Pompadour became the cradle of the Anglo-Arab and today the second of France's national studs after Le Pin. Racing runs on Sundays through the summer on the course facing the château.
